The "Tratturo Magno" was the most important and the biggest of the five "Regi Tratturi". It joined L’Aquila and Foggia and connected the "Doganella d’Abruzzo" to the "Royal Customs of the Mena delle Pecore di Foggia", an Aragonese institution of the Kingdom of Naples.
The Amatriciani shepherds used to join these ancient roads with their flocks starting from the rich pastures that surround the current Lake Campotosto and the Laga Mountains.
The evocative name of this splendid cheese Pecorino is a tribute to ancient history that these ancient ways represent. A hymn to the flavors, customs and traditions of the lost rural and herding civilizations of the past. The "Tratturo Magno", although carefully matured, in the mouth it is soſt and persuasive, amazing in crowning cutting boards with local cured meats.
As a tribute to his name, let's taste it with a glass of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo of great structure.
